BMS - HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The Health and Physical Education program fosters the physical and cognitive skills that allow students to feel comfortable and confident as they pursue lifelong fitness goals. Our program strives to provide a supportive environment that helps students to understand positive competition, respect for others, and the satisfaction of doing their best. All students must learn to compete to meet goals and reach standards, but competition should never be a source of humiliation or intimidation. Teachers help students understand and control the ways they compete and how they respond to winning and losing.
The middle school Health and Physical Education Curriculum is designed to incorporate the New Jersey Core Content standards. These standards address the following topics: Wellness, Integrated Skills, Drugs and Medicines, Human Relationships/Sexuality, Motor Skill Development, and Fitness. The curriculum aims to provide a foundation for students as they pursue life's goals.
